Rapid Fire with Madison Huemmer, Director of Sales and Marketing, iParq
Q: How did you end up in the parking industry?
By luck! When I moved back to San Diego from Northern California I decided to change industries. I had spent 7 years in tourism and wanted to give my life, and my calendar, a bit more stability (let’s be real I wanted weekends off). I applied to iParq, got the job, and now have been in parking for 5 years, which we all know in the parking world means I’m here for good.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you would give to women starting out in the parking industry?
Ask for what you want and ask for help. If you don’t, chances are your aspirations will stay dreams for far longer than they should.
Q: If you were a new color added to the crayon box, what color are you, why?
Black. Bold and decisive!
Q: How do you relax?
Going to Padres games, hiking, and playing with my nieces.
Q: What inspires you?
Myself. I kick butt and I won’t apologize for it. I think I’m awesome and I hope everyone reading this inspires themselves too!
Q: How do you achieve work/life balance?
Fellow WIP-er Mary Campbell recommended the best advice I’ve received on this; PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN.
Q: If you had a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to ride the Siberian railroad! I am not a resort kind of person. I want to visit places out of the ordinary. A few of my favorite trips have been to Iceland, Serbia, and Myanmar.
Q: Favorite music and/or band?
