Rapid Fire with Alicia Pouliot-Cote
Rapid Fire Questions with Alicia Pouliot-Cote, Regional Manager at SP+ and current Women In Parking member
Q: How did you end up in the parking industry?
A: My transition into the parking industry was purely accidental. I had made the decision to move on from my Internal Audit position in the collections industry and stumbled upon an opportunity that sounded like a great fit. I didn’t realize that it was in the parking industry until after I accepted the position and started the role.
Q: What’s been your single greatest challenge been in your career?
A: The biggest challenge for me was recognizing that no one was going to give me the professional respect, consider me an expert or a leader until I showed up. Showing up is about more that just being physically present, you have to show up physically, emotionally and mentally every day in order to succeed.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you can give to someone starting out in the parking industry?
A: Don’t run! We have an interesting niche and it’s a bit out of the box but give it time. I can think of a million things I love about our industry but #1 has always been that I am constantly challenged and learning each day.
Q: If you were a new color added to the crayon box, what color are you, why?
A: Dynamite Red because I am extremely outgoing, a little out there and loud, definitely because I am loud.
Q: How do you relax?
A: I love to run!
Q: What inspires you?
A: Seeing women across the globe, of all ages challenge the status quo and shatter glass ceilings gets me energized to try a little harder, go a little further and just be badass!
Q: How do you achieve work/life balance?
A: I‘m not sure true work/life balance exists but I have become great at prioritizing which takes 1st place, which can change moment to moment and I’m okay with that.
Q: If you had a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Tahiti. In my down time I am a lounger. Sure I like to run and hike but in a perfect world, I long for island life.
Q: Favorite music and/or band?
A: Alessia Cara
Q: What keeps you up at night?
A: Everything! I am a bit of a natural insomniac and have learned to just roll with it. I typically sleep only 4 hours per night.
